Anthony Tyrone “Tony” Evans is a Christian pastor, speaker, author, and a widely syndicated radio and television broadcaster in the United States. He is the first African American to earn a doctorate in Theology from Dallas Theological Seminary. He taught evangelism, homiletics, and black church studies at DTS, and serves on its Board of Incorporate Members.
Biography
Evans was born in 1949 (age 70 years), in Baltimore, Maryland, United States. He went to Carver College in 1972 where he got her BA. Later in 1976, he went to Dallas Theological Seminary where he got his masters in theology. Evans continued and got her Ph.D. a Dissertation title while still in Dallas Theological Seminary.

Career
At the tender age of 24 (1973) Tony Evans, was contacted by a radio show producer from Houston (KHCB). This man had contacted Dallas Theological Seminary, where Tony was a junior in the ThM program, asking for great preaching content to put on his program for free.
He serves as a senior pastor to the over 9500 member Oak Cliff Bible Fellowship in Dallas, Texas, founded in 1976. Also, he’s the founder and president of the Urban Alternative, a national organization dedicated to Christian teachings.
The Urban Alternative radio broadcast, The Alternative with Dr. Tony Evans can be heard over 1200 outlets daily throughout the U.S. and in over 100 countries worldwide. It is also viewed on several television stations as well as online at Tony Evans.org.
Dr. Evans has served as a chaplain for the NFL’s Dallas Cowboys and is currently the longest-serving chaplain which he has done by serving the Dallas Mavericks for over 30 years.
