Thomas Gibson was born on the 3rd of July 1962 into a Roman Catholic family in Charleston, South Carolina. His father, Charles, was a lawyer and politician who served in the US Senate and House representing the South Carolina state, while his mother, Beth, was a social worker.

The young Thomas attended Little Theater School and later Bishop England High School.  He attended the College of Charleston from 1979 to 1981. He later applied to the Juilliard School, New York for a scholarship and was taken.

There, Thomas studied for a Bachelor degree in Fine Arts, graduating in 1985. Prior to his professional training for performing arts, as a child, Thomas had always had a flair for drama.

As a nine-year-old, he had appeared in children’s theater and also made an appearance in Seize the Street: the Skateboard Musical, produced by the Charleston Stage production company. His first foray into television was in 1987 in CBS’ legal drama Leg Work.

He also has two Golden Globe nominations for Best Performance by an Actor in a TV Series – Comedy/Musical. In 2010 he won the Entertainment Weekly online poll for Under-appreciated Entertainer of the Year for his performance in Criminal Minds.

Career

Career-wise, his most recent endeavors have been playing Colonel Branson – the head of a secret and covert division of the NSA in Shadow Wolves, a made-for-TV movie created by McKay Daines.

Recently, he finalized his divorce from Cristina Parker, after they had been married for more than two decades. He currently lives in San Antonio.

Thomas married the love of his life Christine Gibson who is also a famous actress in 1993. They have been married for 22 years and were blessed with three children – James Parker Gibson (born in 1999), Travis Carter (born 2002) and Agatha Marie Gibson (born 2004).

The couple, however, separated in 2011 due to some misunderstanding in their relationship. Gibson at present resides in San Antonio, Texas.
