As of 2020, Steven Seagal has a net worth of $20 million, which is a result of his career in Hollywood. Steven is undeniably an accomplished martial artist who brought his skill to Hollywood in order to carve a career out for himself.

He then went on to appear in a number of other films including ‘Under the Siege’, ‘On Deadly Ground’ and ‘Under Siege 2: Dark Territory’.


Steven Frederic Seagal was born on April 10, 1952 to Samuel Steven and Patricia in Lansing, Michigan. His mother was a medical technician and his father was a high school teacher. He is of Jewish-Irish ancestry.

The family shifted to Fullerton, where he studied at Buena Park High School in Buena Park.

He got a job as a dishwasher in a restaurant, ‘The Wagon Wheel’. Since he was extremely swift on his feet, the cook, who was a Japanese Shotokan karate expert, observed him and decided to give him some training on the basics of karate.

He then went on to learn aikido under Harry Kiyoshi Ishisaka in 1964. In his late teens, he moved to Japan with his father, who was visiting the country for military reasons and decided to remain in Japan permanently.

Soon enough, he earned a 7th dan degree and Shihan in aikido and became the first foreigner in Japan to operate an aikido dojo.


Steven wound up staying in Japan for 15 years where he became one of the first Americans to ever run a dojo. Seagal eventually returned to The U.S. where he opened his own dojo in New Mexico. Soon after, Seagal moved to California to open a new dojo in Burbank.

Seagal started making important Hollywood contacts who helped him land jobs as a martial arts co-coordinator for the films The Challenge and Never Say Never Again. He quickly jumped from behind the camera to starring in his first major motion picture, 1987’s “Above the Law”. ‘

Seagal followed that film up with three hit movies in a row. He was now considered one of Hollywood’s leading action stars. Seagal would make his biggest hit with 1992’s “Under Siege”.

The film would went on to earn $156.4 million worldwide. In 1994 Seagal made his directorial debut with the movie “On Deadly Ground”. The film (which he also co-starred) was a departure for him because it dealt heavily with spiritual and environmental issues.

Steven’s career has waned since his success in the 80s and 90s, but he has appeared in a steady stream of straight to DVD films and even a few international theatrical releases.

In 2001 Seagal scored another big hit when he starred in “Exit Wounds”. Exit Wounds was a huge success, grossing more than $80 million worldwide. In addition to acting and material arts, Seagal is also a guitarist.

He has released two albums which have featured songs with artist such as Stevie Wonder and Tony Rebel. He can currently been seen on his reality show Steven Seagal: Lawman.

Seagal married Miyako Fujitani in 1974. He had two children from her; both of whom went on to become extremely popular in their fields. He left her in 1987.

While his divorce with Fujitani was still not finalised, he married Adrienne La Russa.

While he was married to La Russa, he fell in love with Kelly LeBrock and she became pregnant with his child. When this news spread his marriage with La Russa was annulled and he eventually married LeBrock in 1987. He has three children with LeBrock.

He is currently married to Erdenetuya Batsukh with whom he has a son, Kunzang.
