White was born with Tetralogy of Fallot, a type of heart defect present at birth.

He spent his formative years riding Bear Mountain and Okemo, small ski resorts found in Ludlow, Vermont, and the San Bernardino Mountains of southern California.

He was arrested in September 2012 for public intoxication and vandalism after attending the wedding party of the drummer of The Black Keys, Patrick Carney.

White commenced skateboarding at the age of six after following his older brother to the nearby YMCA. After a year, he got his first sponsorship. He was included in four Winter Olympics then.

White won a Gold medal in 2006, 2010 and 2018 Winter Olympics in the snowboard halfpipe event. He then took a part in the Winter X Games and won a medal every year since 2002.

He collected 18 medals (13 gold, 3 silver, and 2 bronze) all of his winter competitions through 2013.

White later won the 2006 Winter Olympics in the half-pipe. In the finals, he scored 46.8 (50 is the highest possible score) to win. He also claims second with a points total of 44.0.
