Sergio García was born on 9th January 1980, in Borriol, Castellon, Spain, to Victor Garcia and Consuelo Fernandez. His star sign is Capricorn. By nationality he is Spanish, and his ethnicity is Spaniards. He has a brother, Victor Garcia and a sister, Mar Garcia Fernandez.

At three, Garcia started off playing golf and was trained by his father, Victor, who is a club professional. He won his club championship at the age of twelve. In 1996, he set a record as the youngest player to cut a European Tour event, the 1995 Turespaña Open Mediterranea.

After winning the European amateur, García became the youngest player in 1995. He followed that with a win in the Boys Amateur Championship in 1997. The same year he also won a professional tournament, the Catalan Open as an amateur.
