Rob Liefeld was born on October 3, 1967, in the United States. His father was a Baptist minister and his mother was a part-time secretary.

He spent most of his childhood in Anaheim, California along with his sister who is seven years older than him.

As a child, he used to trace artwork from various comic books. His love of comics encouraged him to become a professional artist. While he was in high school, he took basic fundamental art courses.

While attending a comic book convention at a Disneyland Hotel, he met many popular creators like Jim Shooter, Marv Wolfman, George Pérez, Bob Layton, John Romita Jr and Mike Zeck.

Liefeld cites that he is majorly influenced by Pérez, along with Frank Miller and John Byrne. He is married to Joy Creel who is one of the “Creel Triplets”.

Rob Liefeld started his career fresh out of high school when he was hired for both DC and Marvel comics.

While still in his early 20’s, Liefeld took over the New Mutants comic book franchise and revamped it into the industry powerhouse X-Force!.

He introduced many new characters including Shatterstar, Reaper, Stryfe, Gideon, Warpath, Kane, Deadpool and many more.

The franchise of X-force has produced many popular books for the industry leader Marvel comics.

After the success of X-force, Liefeld along with other popular artists including Erik Larsen, Jim Valentino, Jim Lee, Marc Silvestri to form “Image Comics” in the year 1992.

He is also the founder of a comic production label “Extreme Studios” which published many creations of Liefeld like Bloodstrike, Glory, Brigade, Avengelyne, and Prophet.

Liefeld has worked with many notable authors including Chris Claremont, Joe Casey, Robert Kirkman, Alan Moore, Jeph Loeb and many more.

In 2006, he was asked to write a five-issue limited series of Heroes Reborn with Onslaught Reborn. He also wrote the best-selling Prelude to Deadpool Corps series and became a regular artist on Deadpool Corps.

In 2011, Liefeld along with Robert Kirkman launched a mini-series “The Infinite”.

He along with many new artists and writers created many comic books including a Glory series written by Joe Keatinge, a Prophet series by Brandon Graham, a Bloodstrike series by Tim Seeley, and many more.
