Luis Miguel Net Worth 2020, Early Life, Career and Achievement
Luis Miguel Net Worth – Luis Miguel Gallego Basteri, professionally known as Luis Miguel, is a Mexican singer and record producer.
Often referred to as El Sol de México (The Sun of Mexico) and El Sinatra Latino (The Latin Sinatra), Luis Miguel is unarguably one of the most successful musical artistes in the history of Latin America.
Early Life, Family and Education
Luis Miguel was born on April 19, 1970, in San Juan, Puerto Rico, to Spanish singer and musician Luis Gallego Sanchez and Italian actress Marcela Basteri. He grew up alongside two brothers, Alejandro and Sergio.
Named after the Spanish bullfighter Luis Miguel Dominguín, he celebrates his birthday on 19 April instead of 18 as his father registered him on Puerto Rico’s Civil Registry a day after his birth.
Luis Miguel was raised in a Catholic family and cites this to be one of the reasons that he is a Catholic himself. He still visits the church whenever his busy schedule allows him to.
He had a complicated upbringing, mostly due to his early fame. His relationship with his father was not ideal. Sanchez served as Luis Miguel’s manager and was a stern man, pushing his son to the limit during the incessant rehearsals.
However, it was this attitude that played a significant part in Luis Miguel’s success. In 1986, his mother suddenly disappeared and she still remains missing.
In the late 1980s, facing financial problems due to poor representations, Luis Miguel told his father that he did not want him as his manager any more. Following the estrangement between the father and son, Sanchez suffered severe depression and drank himself to death in 1992.
Luis Miguel prefers his personal life to remain private. However, his relationships have been the subjects of much speculation in Latin media.
He has dated actress Lucía Méndez, singer Stephanie Salas, photographer Mariana Uzbek, actress Issabela Camil, actress Sofía Vergara, television host Daisy Fuentes, singer Mariah Carey, journalist Myrka Dellanos, actress Aracely Arámbula, model Kenita Larraín, and actress Genoveva Casanova to name a few.
With Stephanie Salas, he has a daughter named Michelle Gallego (born June 13, 1989). He and Aracely Arámbula have two sons together: Miguel (January 1, 2007) and Daniel (December 18, 2008).
He is an international star who is loved for his well-produced albums and strong live performances. Since 1990, he has been one of the most popular performers in Latin America, beloved and referred to as El Sol de México (The sun of Mexico).
In the United States, he was the first Latino artists to have two Spanish-language albums, Romance and Segundo Romance, go platinum. The latter release won him one of his five Grammys and earned a total of 34 platinum records throughout South and Central America.
In 2000, he took home two awards, Male Pop Vocal Performance and Best Pop Album, at the first annual Latin Grammy Awards. Another honor came in 2003 when he was nominated in the Favorite Latin Artist category of the American Music Awards.
Other highlights throughout his musical career include Amarte Es un Placer (1999), the tour which broke his previous record for the highest-grossing Latin artist tour; México en la Piel (2004), which sold three million copies worldwide; Complices (2008), a collaboration with Manuel Alejandro; and a self-titled album (2010) which marked his 40th birthday.
Miguel is known for his high-grossing live performances. He is an annual headliner in The Colosseum at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas, and he has sold out the National Auditorium in Mexico City over 200 times in just over twenty years.
During the Luis Miguel Tour, his most recent concert tour, he visited 22 countries in North America, South America and Europe.
Having performed in a three-and-a-half-year span a total of 223 shows all over the world, this tour is the longest and highest-grossing tour ever made by a Latin American artist.
Luis Miguel is a Mexican singer who has a net worth of $180 million.
