People mostly know him as a co-creator and star of the MTV reality stunt show ‘Jackass’. Additionally, he has appeared in several other movies like ‘Men in Black II’, ‘The Ringer’, and ‘The Dukes of Hazzard’ among others.


Johnny Knoxville was born as Philip John Clapp in Knoxville, Tennessee on March 11, 1971. He was born to parents Philip and Lemoyne Clapp. His mother was a tire/car salesman and his father taught Sunday school.

He developed a keen interest in acting since his childhood years. He is of American nationality. Furthermore, he belongs to a mixed ethnic background of English, German, Scots-Irish/Northern Irish, Irish, French, and Dutch.

In 1995, he married Melanie Lynn Cates in Las Vegas. The couple had one daughter together, Madison. Knoxville says becoming a father inspired him to pursue his career seriously.

Knoxville filed for divorce from wife Melanie in 2007, after 12 years of marriage. In 2010, he married Naomi Nelson. The two have a son (Rocko) and daughter (Arlo) together.

Knoxville moved to California to become an actor after his graduation. Initially, he appeared in several commercials. In 1992, he appeared as Cure Fan in the TV series ‘The Ben Stiller Show’.
