Jeffrey Jacob Abrams was born on June 27, 1966, in New York City. He studied at Palisades High School and Sarah Lawrence College, Bronxville, and spent his free time writing screenplays.
JJ Abrams was born to a television producer father, Gerald W. Abrams and an executive producer mother, Carol Ann Abrams (née Kelvin).
