Jimmie began his career from off-road competitions and won several championships. At the age of four, he started racing 50 CC bikes.
In 1992, Jimmie won his first of three-straight stadium motocross championships. From 1997 to 2000, he participated in the Busch Series and finally got into the NASCAR Series in 2000.
Before that, he was named Rookie of the year in 1998 and won his first Busch Series, the following year.
