Jim Ross Net Worth 2020 – As you run across different channels on your TV, you might’ve come across a man shouting or cheering WWE participants with a slight frown on his face, it is none other than Jim Ross! Yes, that’s the person you’ve seen for years either doing commentary or some other totally unexpected stuff.
The famous commentator, Jim Ross was born on 3rd January, 1952 in Fort Bragg, California. Not much is known about his mother and father, but it is said that his paternal grandparents owned a beer store, while his maternal grandparents owned a General Store in Westville.
Jim Ross attended Westville High School and got selected for the school’s baseball team where he played for the first base. In his early years, Jim Ross was much into sports (football).
However, while in college, he did a little bit of commentating on the college radio and that might probably be the point where he unknowingly went into this field.
Jim Ross’ first professional stance at commentating was accidental, as it was when an announcer at NWA Tri-State territory failed to show up that he got a chance at it. He later, got into WWE as a referee and remained so until 1977. With the passage of time, he got minor but steady promotions.
Jim Ross’s on-screen debut was at WrestleMania IX, after he was hired by WWF (World Wrestling Federation). He worked with the WWF/WWE from 1993 to 2002, which is quite a long time.
He established himself as a great professional and occasionally experimented with commentaries. For instance, when he introduced the idea of Radio WWF and started hosting it thereafter.
No matter how much exciting or diverse his career looked at that time, it was filled with many complications and insecurity. In short, it wasn’t a smooth sail.
After WWE, Jim Ross played for Raw from 2002-2008. He established himself as one of the best play-by-play commentators for the Raw Brand exclusively.
In 2008, Jim Ross traded his position with Michael Cole of SmackDown. Basically, he got into SmackDown. However, he wasn’t quite happy with the move at that time, but still remained optimistic.
Following this huge change, Jim Ross’s career went up and down. He was accused of being intoxicated once when he started swearing in the middle of nowhere during a commentary. After working for two other wrestling championships, he returned to WWE in 2017.
Apart from commentary, Jim Ross has also made a debut in boxing and tried his luck in Mixed Martial Arts. Unfortunately, MMA did not go very well with him.
