Isha Sesay was born on January 6, 1976, as Isha Isatu Sesay. She was born in the city of Bordeaux in France.
Although her birthplace is France, she has British nationality. As per her ethnicity, she has a Sierra Leonean ethnic background. The name of her mother is Dr. Kadi Sesay.
She was a lecturer at Fourah Bay College in Freetown, Sierra Leone. Similarly, her father’s name is Mamud Sesay.
Mamud passed away in 1988. Previously, his profession was to give legal Advice to Sierra Leone Produce Marketing Board.
During her childhood, she lived in France until the age of seven. Afterward, she along with her family went back to Sierra Leone. She grew up in a family with the Muslim faith.
For her education, she attended Fourah Bay College in Sierra Leone.
Then, she moved to the UK for higher-level studies in 1992.
Later, she enrolled at Trinity College, Cambridge where she studied English to pursue journalism. Prior, she also completed her A-levels in the UK.

Isha Sesay was married to Leif Coorlim, executive editor of CNN Freedom Project and award-winning journalist.
The duo dated for almost five years and exchanged the engagement rings on January 5, 2013.
After seven months of engagement, the couple shared the wedding vows on 17 August 2013 in Atlanta, Georgia. Their marriage ceremony was held in Mandarin Oriental Hotel.

Magazine asked her how she was feeling after tying the knot with the person she loved; smiling with joy, she answered,
“Our day exceeded my wildest dreams, it was magical. When I saw Leif standing at the end of the aisle, I felt as if my heart would explode. I married the man of my dreams in front of the people we care about the most. And then we partied the night away.”
Her husband surprised her after eight months of marriage and revealed the place where they were going on their honeymoon.
Although the couple is married, they are not in a hurry to welcome children.

Isha Sesay is active in this journalism filed since 1998. After college, she began working on her journalism skills.
Initially, she used to work with the camera. She researched for Kilroy, a BBC talk show.
Then in the year 1998, she joined BBC Scotland and worked in the background for a while. Later, she became the TV announcer for the show, BBC Choice.
