Is Stream Spider-Man: Homecoming on Netflix, Amazon or Hulu
The Marvel Cinematic Universe has long been unable to make use of one of Marvel’s most iconic heroes, Spider-Man.
Thus, when the character finally headed to the MCU, the movie was aptly titled ‘Spider-Man: Homecoming’.
For people like us, who grew up watching Sam Raimi’s movies, starring Tobey Maguire as Spider-Man, and later Andrew Garfield, this movie was a refreshing change.
While the previous films focused either on the socioeconomic problems that Peter faced, and how he juggled those, besides being a hero, or shone the light on various interpersonal relationships in Spider-Man’s life, ‘Spider-Man: Homecoming’ is squarely about how fun web-swinging can be.
It must be said that with the kind of tone that MCU goes for in their movies, Spider-Man is a perfect fit.
As a result, ‘Spider-Man: Homecoming’ is a fine balance between many light moments and mind-boggling action.
It upholds the key lesson of the character — that with great power comes great responsibility, but there is no reason that a little fun cannot come along with it.
‘Spider-Man: Homecoming’ received specific praise for managing to focus on Peter Parker’s high school life, which is something none of the previous movies had done.
With ‘Spider-Man: Far From Home‘, the sequel, already out, you must be wondering where you can watch ‘Spider-Man: Homecoming’ if you have not seen it already, or where to re-watch it.
Well, before we tell you that, let us first explain the plot of ‘Spider-Man: Homecoming’.
What is Spider-Man: Homecoming About?
‘Spider-Man: Homecoming’ is set after the events of the first Avengers movie, and we see New York is still reeling from the aftermath of an alien invasion, which has destroyed a lot of the city in its wake, although the Avengers were able to contain the threat.
Enter Adrian Toomes (Michael Keaton), and his salvage company, who are contracted by the city to clean up the mess.
However, this is soon taken over by the Department of Damage Control (D.O.D.C.), which is a joint effort by Tony Stark and the US government.
Naturally, Toomes is enraged at being deprived of such a huge business opportunity and instructs his workers to steal the Chitauri technology which they plan to use in creating and selling advanced weapons.
The film then jumps to eight years later as we see Peter Parker (Tom Holland) being drafted by Tony Stark, or Iron Man (Robert Downey Jr.), to join the Avengers.
This is the part that is shown in ‘Captain America: Civil War‘.
However, Stark decides that Parker is not ready to become a full-time Avenger yet, and thus the friendly neighborhood hero resumes studies at Midtown School of Science and Technology.
But Parker, having gotten the taste of being a hero, quits his school’s academic decathlon, to spend more time fighting crime.
On one of these crime-fighting missions, he comes across criminals who are using weapons made by Toomes.
This leads to the two of them tangling for the first time, and Toomes drops Spider-Man into a lake, where he is rescued by Tony Stark, who had been monitoring the suit.
He is warned to stay away from Toomes and his crew. In the meanwhile, a new Spider-Man villain emerges from Toomes’ crew, that is Shocker.
Things get even more complicated for Peter, when his best friend, Ned, discovers his secret identity.
However, he joins in and helps Parker track Shocker, and thus Toomes; and also helps him disable Stark’s tracker and unlock the maximum potential of the suit.
With these newly unlocked powers, Peter is hot on the trail of Toomes, and this leads to some magnificent stunts and sequences at the Washington Monument, where Parker saves his friends, and then at the Staten Island Ferry, where Spider-Man goes to apprehend Toomes and his new buyer.
He does capture the buyer, Mac Gargan (who will later become Scorpion). However, Toomes shows up and things go wrong.
Eventually, the ferry is torn in half and Spider-Man tries his best to save everyone, but ultimately needs assistance from Iron Man.
Tony, displeased with the way Peter shirked the responsibilities and went against direct orders, takes away the Spider-Man suit.
It is said that heroes know their true worth when they are at their lowest, and this happens with Peter as well.
On the night of his homecoming dance, which is also why the movie has the name ‘Homecoming’, he realizes that Toomes plans to steal even more tech, this time from the Avengers.
He puts on his old suit and tracks Toomes down.
He goes through Shocker first, with some help from Ned, but is eventually able to suppress Toomes after a long drawn out fight, which is shown brilliantly in the film.
The movie ends with Parker rejecting Stark’s offer to join the Avengers full-time, and we see Tony propose to Pepper Potts (Gwyneth Paltrow).
Stark also returns Parker’s suit, which he had taken, and just as Parker tries it on, Aunt May (Marisa Tomei) walks in.
The mid-credit scene shows an interesting meeting in prison between Scorpion and the Vulture.
Will they team up in one of the future Spider-Man movies? That remains to be seen. However, for now, let us tell you where to watch ‘Spider-Man: Homecoming’.
