The series narrative follows Portland Homicide detective Nick Burkhardt (played by David Giuntoli), who discovers he is a Grimm, the latest in a line of guardians who are sworn to keep the balance between humanity and mythological creatures, known as Wesen.
Grimm was originally developed for CBS, but plans were canceled due to the writers’ strike. In January 2011, NBC opted for the series.
It has been described as “a cop drama with a twist.
A dark and fantastical project about a world in which characters inspired by Grimms’ Fairy Tales exist”, although the stories and characters inspiring the show are also drawn from other sources.
The series initially garnered mixed reviews from critics, though reception grew more favorable throughout the series’ run.
The sixth and final season of Grimm premiered on January 6, 2017, and concluded on March 31, 2017.
Grimm Season 7 Release Date
‘Grimm’ season 6 premiered on NBC on January 6, 2017.
After cutting down its run to 13 episodes, as compared to the previous five seasons that feature 22 episodes each, it concluded with its finale on March 31, 2017.
And much to the disappointment of fans, NBC announced that the sixth season, which wrapped up with the 123rd episode, would be the final installment from the series.
According to star Reggie Lee, when asked about the show’s conclusion, “There were a lot of tears shed especially on our last filming day.
All our veneers cracked. It was so hard to get a word out.” He also said that the story wraps up neatly and viewers would be happy with how the tale bids goodbye to its audiences.
It offers proper closure and leaves no loose threads.
So, there you go. ‘Grimm’ season 7 stands officially canceled. But to cheer you up, here is a bit of good news. A spinoff of the fantasy drama is currently under works.
Sean Hayes and Todd Milliner, EPs of the original title, returns to executive produce the spinoff, and co-creators of the parent title, David Greenwalt and Jim Kouf, are credited as consulting producers.
The new show dives deeper into the mythology of the original series and features returning fan favorites. There is a new female Grimm, new characters, new dangers, and new mysteries.
NBC has not come up with an official name or release date for the spinoff yet. But we shall add that to this section as soon as we learn more.
