Eddie McGuire AM was born on October 29, 1964, in Broadmeadows, Victoria, Australia as Edward Joseph McGuire. McGuire is 55 years old as of 2019. He celebrates his birthday on October 29, every year.

McGuire was born and grew up in the Melbourne suburb of Broadmeadows to his father Edward McGuire Sr.  and Mother Bridie Brennan. McGuire and his older brother Frank McGuire both won scholarships to Christian Brothers’ College, St Kilda.

Frank McGuire, who worked as a newspaper sports reporter, helped Eddie to get his first job in the media as an Australian rules football statistician as well as a cricket reporter for The Herald (1978–1982).

Later McGuire became a cadet sports reporter for Network Ten and then transferred, in 1993, to the Nine Network, where he became the host of a sports variety program.

Soon after their marriage, Eddie and Carla McGuire, have two sons Alexander McGuire in 2001 and Joseph McGuire in 2003.

McGuire was the host of the Nine Network’s The Footy Show from its original air date in March the year 1994 until 2006, before returning for a year in 2017.
