Daniel Dwight Tosh was born on May 29, 1975, in West Germany. He spent the majority of his early life in Titusville, Florida and was raised alongside his two sisters and one brother by a Presbyterian minister.

Tosh graduated from Astronaut High School in 1993 and later enrolled in the University of Central Florida. He then graduated in 1996 with a degree in marketing.

After working as a telemarketer at the Central Florida Research Park, he went to Canada around 1998 to perform at the Just For Laughs comedy festival in Montreal. About two years later he was televised and discovered after an act he performed at the Theater Saint-Denis in Montreal.

After his act was televised, the following year brought him to Hollywood. He made appearances on The Late Show with David Letterman, The Tonight Show with Jay Leno, Jimmy Kimmel Live, and Premium Blend of Comedy Central.

Since joining the industry he has hosted several TV shows including the Bob & Tom Show, Live at Gotham, Tens, Loveline, and Kevin & Bean. His own televised specials include Daniel Tosh: Completely Serious, Daniel Tosh: Happy Thoughts, and Comedy Central Presents.

He also produced his very own comedy show Brickleberry and voiced the character Mallow on the show.

In June 2009 he began hosting Tosh.0, his television show on Comedy Central.
