Biography
Anne Burrell was born on September 21, 1969 in Cazenovia, New York to Marlene Burrell who had a flower shop in Cazenovia. Anne Burrell studied in Canisius College in Buffalo from where she did her graduation in English and communications in the year 1991.
Thereafter she attended Culinary Institute of America from where she graduated with a degree in Associate in Occupational Studies in 1996. She also studied in Italian Institute for Foreigners in Asti, Italy.
She claims to be a lesbian and has been in relationship with Koren Gieveson her chef girlfriend and is engaged to her.
Immediately after completing her graduation from Italian Culinary Institute for Foreigners she worked in restaurants in Italy. She gained practical experience in Italian cuisine. On returning to US she joined Felidia, a restaurant owned by celebrity chef Lidia Bastianich who specialised in Italian-American cuisine.
Anne Burrell worked there as a sous chef. Later she became a chef at Savoy, a small restaurant. Her next assignment was teaching at Institute of Culinary Education. She was called by Lidia Bastianich’s son Joseph Bastianich to work in his restaurant as chef for Italian Wine Merchant, their Wine store in New York.
With both teaching and working experience, her expertise grew and she joined as an executive chef at a reputed Italian Restaurant Centro Vinoteca at New York City. She started her own restaurant in February 2017 in Brooklyn.
Anne Burrell appeared in several TV shows even when she worked as a chef in different restaurants. In 2005 she appeared in Food Network’s ‘Iron Chef America’ series. In 2008 and 2009 she appeared in Food Network’s ‘Secrets of a Restaurant Chef’ and ‘The Best thing I ever ate’.
In 2009 she appeared with Guy Fieri, a Food Network personality on the Guy Fieri Road show. In the same year she along with Sunny Anderson a Food Network personality appeared in Mary’s Thanksgiving Day Parade on the Food Network float.
In 2010 she hosted Food Network’s ‘Worst cooks in America’ with chef Bean MacMillan. In 2011 she hosted 11 days Food Network Cruise throughout the Mediterranean and Atlantic abroad ‘Celebrity Silhouette’.
