Unfortunately, his parents got divorced a few years later and his dad died a year after their divorce. Alex grew up alongside one sibling Stasia Honnold.
On his academics, he attended Mira Loma High School where he graduated from in 2003 with a 4.7 GPA. He proceeded to the University of California, Berkeley where he started to study civil engineering but quit at the age of 19 when professional rock climbing came calling.

He was five years old when he started experimenting with heights at a climbing gym and by the time he turned 10, he was already climbing several times a week.

Alex Honnold is not in any marriage relationship presently, but he has a girlfriend, Cassandra Sanni McCandless – a writer and blogger with a blog known as 35 Degrees to the West which centers on her experience with the great outdoors.
According to her record, Cassandra made the first move at Alex’s 2015 book signing event which took place in a Seattle book store.
When it got to her turn, she presented him with a piece of paper with her phone number clearly written on it and said: “because you made me laugh — and why not?”
Alex’s lady love has been quite supportive of his career; contrary to people’s belief that she will end up being a source of distraction for him.
