Alan Dershowitz Net Worth 2020 – A celebrated criminal appellate lawyer, Alan has an impressive record of winning 13 of the 15 murder and attempted murder cases he has handled.

At a time, Alan joined the faculty of Harvard Law School as an assistant professor. This was in 1964 and he was the youngest full professor of law in the school’s history at the age of 28.

Biography

Alan Morton Dershowitz is a scholar of the United States Constitution and criminal law. Records say he was born on the 1st of September 1938 in Williamsburg, Brooklyn to his parents Claire Dershowitz and Harry Dershowitz who are traditional Jews.

As such, Alan was brought up with strong Jewish principles; this was expected as his father was the president of the Young Israel Synagogue in the 1960s’.

According to Alan, his father had high morals and a strong sense of justice as it was Harry’s belief that it was the Jew’s job to defend the underdogs.

Education

The scholar attended the Yeshiva University High School which was an independent prep school for only boys located in upper state Manhattan, New York City.

In school, Alan had a reputation as a troublemaker and a rebellious student who was often critical of his teachers and the general running of the school.

After Alan finished high school, he moved to Brooklyn College in New York for a degree in Political Science which he received in 1959.

From his high school days, Alan was challenged and criticized by his teachers “to do something that requires no brain”.

Because of this, he decided to become a Lawyer and after college, went off to Yale Law School where he graduated top of his class with a Bachelor of Laws (LL.B.) in 1962.

After his admission into the bar, Alan served as a clerk for David L. Bazelon who was the then Chief Judge of the Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia.

Focusing on criminal law, Alan Dershowitz has had some really high profile clients over the years such as Mike Tyson, O.J Simpson, Harry Reems, and Jim Baker just to name a few.

He is currently advising Julian Assange’s legal team. Away from his career, Alan is married to Carolyn Cohen and the couple has three kids.

When his son Jamin Dershowitz converted to a Roman Catholic, it prompted Alan’s book “The Vanishing Jew”

Alan Dershowitz has also authored other books on Law and politics including Reasonable Doubts: The Criminal Justice System and the O.J. Simpson Case (1996);  Reversal of Fortune: Inside the von Bülow Case (1985), The Case for Israel (2003)Rights From Wrongs: A Secular Theory of the Origins of Rights (2004), and The Case for Peace (2005).

O.J Simpson is a former NFL player and actor who stood trial on two counts of murder for the deaths of his ex-wife, Nicole Brown Simpson and her friend Ron Goldman.

In 1995, Alan Dershowitz acted as an appellate adviser to the defense team of O.J Simpson during the trial in the much-publicized murder case.
